[West End were "reformed" in 1894 and became a junior club in 1895. They closed down in 1924.]

West End were composed of the fashionable young men of the west end of the city and for a time threatened the hegemony of the city's leading clubs. The club abided by a strict amateur ethos at a time when professionalism wasn't yet legalised, but nevertheless practiced surreptitiously by clubs.

In the early days of the club the team could rely on such fine players as Gibson, D. Wynd, A. Chalmers, McLellan, Matthew, R. Steven, Soutar, Fairweather, G. White, Wynd & Whitton. Unfortunately the club couldn't keep the team together with some members leaving town such as the influential White and others joining Strathmore such as Steven and Matthew.

In 1894, with the city's footballing landscape having changed dramatically, there was an attempt to reform the club- again on a strict amateur basis in the now professional era. The meeting took place in the Albion Hotel on the 19th Jan 1894. The attendees included some of the old 'West Enders' as well as some 'discontents' from the old Strathmore team which had recently merged with Johnstone Wanderers. There were others too such as Dow of Dundee and those seeking to further amateur football in the city. There were hopes the club would be the 'Dundee Queen's Park'.

In Feb 1894 the club made an application to join the SFA, but despite the efforts of the Forfarshire representative the committee decided to hold over the application until the club could secure a ground- a matter the club was finding troublesome.

In an August meeting of the SFA it was revealed that West End had secured one of Strathmore's old grounds, but had subsequently lost out. Nevertheless, the club was admitted to the SFA.

However the reformed club appear to have played in junior circles leaving Lochee United as the sole senior amateur team in the city.
